Three Champions, $300K, and One Epic Rodeo Weekend for Team Durango®
Team Durango® athletes delivered standout performances at the 2025 American Rodeo, earning championship titles and $100,000 purses in one of the most prestigious single-day rodeo events of the year. Jose Conner (Breakaway Roping), Shane Hanchey (Tie-Down Roping), and Will Lummus (Steer Wrestling) each took home top honors, showcasing their grit, talent, and determination.
Held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, The American Rodeo drew over 40,000 fans and marked another milestone in its second decade of highlighting the best in professional rodeo.
SHANE HANCHEY:
TIE-DOWN ROPING CHAMPION
Shane Hanchey , a seasoned pro and consistent force in Tie-Down Roping, narrowly bested fellow Team Durango® athelete Riley Webb—the reigning Rodeo Houston Champion—by mere tenths of a second with a 6.73-second run in the Final Four round.
This victory follows strong showings at both Rodeo Houston and Rodeo Austin earlier this year, setting Shane up for success as he gears up for summer and aims to qualify for his 16th Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.
A true believer in the power of hard work and passion, Shane's journey began at just ten years old when he picked up the rope with his left hand. His brother quickly switched him to the right, a decision Shane calls "a blessing!"
JOSIE CONNER:
BREAKAWAY ROPING CHAMPION
Louisiana native Josie Conner roped her way to a championship title in the Final Four with a lightning-fast 1.89-second run, just after clocking a sub-two-second time in the Shootout round earlier that Saturday. Her incredible speed and focus earned her the top spot in breakaway roping, with fellow Team Durango® athlete Martha Angelone finishing close behind as Reserve Breakaway Roping Champion with a time of 1.93.
Conner's rodeo journey began young—learning the ropes from her father and competing in breakaway roping jackpots and amateur rodeos by age 11. She earned her PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) card at 18.
WILL LUMMUS:
STEER WRESTLING CHAMPION
Will Lummus brought home the champion title in Steer Wrestling, clocking an outstanding 3.71-second time. A Mississippi native, Will grew up steeped in the rodeo lifestyle—following his uncle, Bob Lummus, former PRCA Steer Wrestler and his rodeo hero, along with PRCA World Champions Joe Beaver and Luke Branquinho.
From the National Little Britches Rodeo in 2009 to the National High School Finals Rodeo in 2010-2011, Will's journey through the junior ranks laid the foundation for his pro career. Known for his relentless drive and bulldogging grit, his win at The American adds another major milestone to an already impressive list of achievements.
