PROFESSIONAL TIE-DOWN ROPER

Born and raised in Louisiana, Shane followed in the footsteps of his uncle and older brother who were always roping. At the age of ten Shane picked up the rope with his left hand and his brother quickly switched him to the right hand, which Shane shared “was a blessing!” At thirteen, Shane's older brother got a once in a lifetime horse that elevated his career and decided to train horse’s full time. The owner of that horse gifted Shane his own horse and ever since he has been eating, sleeping and breathing calf roping. “I wake up every day wanting to be the best,” says Shane, “You don’t have to be from a family of champions if you set goals.” Hard work, and passion trump everything else. Which is why Shane and his wife, upon leaving Louisiana for Texas, brought the tastes of Louisiana to Texas. In 2019, they started a Cajun food trailer that serves crawfish, gumbo, shrimp, and a lot more. Shane is able to round out his successful rodeo career, and boil crawfish. Shane shared, “We try to work hard every day, and try to get better both in and out of the arena each day.”
