ABOUT HUNTER

Growing up in Texas, Hunter was the first in his family to rope, learning the basics in a home arena his parents built. He fell in love with the sport — and got serious about competition — when a neighbor and mentor, Gary Jacobs, taught him to rope and had him help exercise racehorses.

After competing on a scholarship for Vernon (Texas) Junior College and qualifying for the College National Finals Rodeo, Hunter turned pro in 2019. He's a three-time NFR qualifier, a Canadian Finals Rodeo Champion Heeler, and the 2022 American Rope Horse Futurity 1st Go-Round Champion in the 4-Year-Old Division.

In 2023, he teamed up with fellow Team Durango® athlete Luke Brown.
